So after all the excitement if making a table I didn’t anticipate that i’d effectively get a commission for one! I was asked by a family friend to make a cheese/charcuterie board for a charity auction. It was an interesting project and I was able to get it done quite quick.
It was a smaller project so I used some live edge oak which was 2.5cm thick. It was lovely, but a bit thin and knowing I was going to have to flatten it with my plunge router I doubled it and glued two piece of it together. Heavier but worth it.
I used a prefabricating plastic mould which I used to get the pieces all set up and glued the pieces together with standard PVA. Once dried I used some lovely metallic purple resin for the pour
It wouldn’t be a resin project without some fire 🙂
And popping it out of the mould was relatively easy
Then after the flattening and polishing what I was left with…..
I finished off with a trim router to cut grooves into the sides fold holding though the resin did get chipped so needed to be sanded down. I also free hand branded my initials into it for a bit of customisation.
It was donated to charity and when auctioned went for a tremendous amount!
